Gospel of John_Chapter 12

Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where he raised Lazarus from the dead.

Someone was there preparing a feast for Jesus. Martha served, and Lazarus was also among those who sat at the table with Jesus.

Mary took a pound of extremely expensive true nard ointment and wiped Jesus’ feet, then wiped them with her own hair. The room was filled with the fragrance of ointment.

There was one disciple, Judas Iscariot, who was about to betray Jesus,

Why not sell this ointment for thirty taels of silver to give to the poor?

He said these things not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief and carried a purse, constantly taking what was stored in it.

Jesus said, Let her alone, she has been preserved for me on the day of my burial.

Because poor people are always with you. It’s just that you don’t often have me.

Many Jews, knowing that Jesus was there, came not only because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

But the chief priests discussed that even Lazarus would be killed.

Because many Jews returned and believed in Jesus because of Lazarus.

The next day, many people who came up to celebrate heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

He took a palm branch and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna, blessed be the king of Israel who comes in the name of the Lord.”.

Jesus got a donkey foal and rode it on. As recorded in the scripture,

O daughter of Zion, do not be afraid; your king has come riding on a donkey’s colt.

At first, the disciples did not understand these things. It wasn’t until Jesus was glorified that he remembered that these words were written about him, and indeed everyone did so to him.

When Jesus called Lazarus and raised him from the dead to the grave, all the people who were with Jesus testified.

When they heard that Jesus had performed this miracle, they went to meet him.

The Pharisees said to each other, “See, you are working in vain, and all the world has gone after him.”.

At that time, among the people who came to worship during the festival, there were a few Greeks.

They came to Philip of Bethsaida in Galilee and begged him, saying, Sir, we are willing to see Jesus.

Philip went to tell Andrew, and Andrew went with Philip to tell Jesus.

Jesus said, The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

I truly tell you, if a grain of wheat doesn’t fall into the ground and die, it will still be a grain. If it dies, it will bear many seeds.

Those who cherish their own lives lose their lives. Those who hate their own lives in this world must preserve their lives until eternal life.

If anyone serves me, follow me. Wherever I am, the people who serve me must also be there. If anyone serves me, my father will respect them.

I’m feeling sad now, what should I say? Father, save me from this moment. But I came here originally for this time.

Father, may you glorify your name. At that time, a voice from heaven said, “I have already glorified my name, and I will glorify it again.”.

The crowd standing beside heard it and said, “Thunder has struck.”. Some people say that an angel is speaking to him.

Jesus said, This voice is not for me, but for you.

Now this world is on trial. The king of this world is going to be driven out.

If I am lifted up from the ground, I will attract ten thousand people to come back to me.

Jesus spoke of how he was about to die.

The crowd answered, “We have heard in the law that Christ is eternal.”. How do you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this person?

Jesus said to them, “The light is among you, and there is not much time left. Walk while there is light, so that darkness may not come upon you.”. The one walking in the darkness doesn’t know where to go.

Take advantage of the light and believe in it, so that you may become the sons of light. After Jesus had said these words, he left them and hid.

Although he has performed many miracles in front of them, they still do not believe him.

This is to fulfill the words of the prophet Isaiah, saying, Lord, who believes in what we preach? To whom is the Lord’s arm revealed?

They couldn’t believe it because Isaiah said,

The Lord made them blind and hardened their hearts, so that they may not see with their eyes and understand with their hearts, and turn around, and I will heal them.

Isaiah spoke of him because he saw his glory.

Nevertheless, many officials trusted him. Just because of the Pharisees, if they do not acknowledge it, they may be expelled from the synagogue.

This is because they love the glory of their loved ones more than the glory of God.

Jesus shouted loudly, “He who believes in me does not believe in me, but in him who sent me.”.

When people see me, they see the one who sent me.

I came into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me will not dwell in darkness.

If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I will not judge them. I didn’t come to judge the world, but to save it.

Those who reject me and do not accept my words will be judged. That is what I am talking about, to judge him at the end of the day.

Because I didn’t speak on my own. Only the Father who sent me has given me orders to say and speak.

I also know that his command is eternal life. Therefore, what I say is exactly what my father said to me.
