Genesis_Chapter 39

Joseph was taken down to Egypt. There was an Egyptian who was a servant of Pharaoh and the captain of the guard, Potiphar, who bought him from the hands of the Ishmaelites who brought him.

Joseph lived in the house of his master the Egyptian, and the Lord was with him, and he prospered in all things.

His master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord had made everything in his hands go smoothly,

Joseph found favor in his master’s sight and served him, and his master appointed him to manage household chores and handed over everything to him.

Since the master appointed Joseph to manage the household and all his possessions, the Lord has blessed the Egyptian’s house because of Joseph. All that is in the house and in the field is blessed by the Lord.

Potiphar gave everything into Joseph’s hands, knowing nothing except the food he ate. Joseph turned out to be elegant and handsome.

After this, Joseph’s master’s wife showed her affection to Joseph with her eyes and said, “Sleep with me.”.

Joseph refused and said to his master’s wife, “See, my master knows nothing about all household chores.”. He handed everything over to me.

There is no one older than me in this family. And he didn’t leave anything to me, only you because you are his wife. How can I do such great evil and offend God?

Later, she told Joseph every day, but Joseph did not listen to her, did not sleep with her, or was with her.

One day, Joseph went into the house to do something, and there was not a single member of the family in that room,

The woman grabbed his robe and said, “Sleep with me.”. Joseph threw his clothes into the woman’s hand and ran outside.

The woman saw Joseph throwing his clothes into her hand and running out,

I called my family and said to them, “Look.”. He brought a Hebrew into our house to tease us. He came to me to sleep with me, so I shouted loudly.

He heard me shout loudly, so he threw his clothes over to me and ran outside.

The woman left Joseph’s clothes with her and waited for his master to return home,

And thus said he, The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to mock me,

I shouted loudly, and he threw his clothes at me and ran out.

Joseph’s master heard what his wife had said to him, saying, ‘Your servant has treated me like this, and he is angry.’,

Put Joseph in prison, where the king’s prisoners were imprisoned. So Joseph was imprisoned there.

But the Lord was with Joseph and showed kindness to him, so that he found favor in the eyes of the prison warden.

The warden handed over all the prisoners in the prison to Joseph’s command. Everything they do there is handled by him.

The prison warden will not investigate anything under Joseph’s command, because the Lord is with Joseph. The Lord has made everything he does smooth.
