Exodus_Chapter 5

Later, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, has said: ‘Let my people go and keep a feast for me in the wilderness.'”.

Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord who made me listen to his words and let the Israelites go?”? I do not know the Lord, nor will I allow the Israelites to go.

They said, The God of the Hebrews has found us. Please allow us to go into the wilderness for a three-day journey and offer sacrifices to the Lord our God, so that he may not attack us with plague or swords.

The king of Egypt said to them, Moses and Aaron, why have you caused the people to leave work? Go and bear your burden.

And he said, See, the Israelites of this land are now numerous, yet you have made them rest from their burdens.

On that day, Pharaoh ordered the overseers and the officials to say,

Do not give grass to the people as usual to make bricks, and let them go and pick up grass themselves.

The number of bricks they used to make, you still ask them not to reduce at all, because they are lazy. Therefore, they cry out, saying, Let us go and worship our God.

Put even greater effort on these people, so that they may toil and not listen to false words.

The overseers and officials came out and said to the people, “Pharaoh said, ‘I will not give you straw.'”.

Wherever you can find grass yourself, go find it, but your labor cannot be reduced at all.

So the people scattered throughout Egypt, picking up broken straw as grass.

The supervisor urged and said, ‘You should complete your work for a day, just like there was grass before.’.

And Pharaoh, who was in charge of the work, rebuked the chief officials of the Israelites whom he had sent, saying, Why did you not make bricks according to the usual number yesterday and today, and complete your work?

The officials of the Israelites came to plead with Pharaoh, saying, Why do you treat your servants like this?

The supervisor did not give grass to his servants and said to us, ‘Make bricks.’. Look, your servant was beaten, it’s actually the fault of your people.

But Pharaoh said, You are lazy, you are lazy. Therefore, let us go and worship the Lord.

Now go and work, grass will not be given to you, but bricks must be paid in full.

The officials of the Israelites heard that your daily brick work must not be reduced at all, and they knew that you were in trouble.

They left Pharaoh and met Moses, with Aaron standing across from them,

And he said to them, May the Lord examine you and make judgments, for you have given us a bad reputation before Pharaoh and his servants, and have put the sword in their hands to kill us.

Moses returned to the Lord and said, Lord, why have you mistreated this people? Why did you send me?

Since I went to see Pharaoh and spoke in your name, he has been mistreating this people, and you have not saved them at all.
