Acts of the Apostles_Chapter 11
The apostles and the brothers in Judea heard that the Gentiles also received the word of God.
When Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcision disciples argued with him, saying,
You entered the home of uncircumcised people and ate with them.
Peter spoke up and explained this matter to them in order,
When I was praying in the city of Joppa, my soul wandered outside the elephant and saw a vision. Something came down, like a large cloth tied at its four corners, let down from the sky and came straight to me.
I fixed my gaze and saw four legged livestock on the earth, wild beasts, insects, and birds in the sky inside.
And I heard a voice say to me, Peter, get up, slaughter and eat.
I said, Lord, this is impossible. Ordinary and unclean things have never entered my mouth.
The second time, there was a voice from heaven saying, What God has cleansed, do not make it a common thing.
This happened three times in a row, and it all went back to the sky.
At that moment, three people were standing in front of the door where we were staying, who had been sent to me from Caesarea.
The Holy Spirit commands me to go with them without doubt. These six brothers also went with me. We all entered that person’s house.
The man then told us how he saw an angel standing in his house, saying, Send someone to Joppa and invite Simon, who is called Peter.
He has something to tell you that he can save you and your whole family.
As soon as I began speaking, the Holy Spirit descended upon them, just as it had descended upon us in the beginning.
I remember the Lord’s words: John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.
Since God has bestowed upon them the same grace as he did upon us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who am I that can hinder God?
When they heard these words, they remained silent. To glory only to God, saying, It seems that God has also bestowed grace upon the Gentiles, that they may repent and attain life.
The disciples who were scattered due to the trouble caused by Stephen went straight to Phoenicia, Hebrews, and Antioch. They do not preach to others, only to Jews.
But among them were Cyprus and Cyrene, who also preached the Lord Jesus to the Greeks when they arrived in Antioch. (There is an ancient scroll that also preached the Lord Jesus to the Jews who spoke Greek.)
The Lord is with them, and many people believe and return to the Lord.
The news reached the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas out to Antioch.
When he arrived there and saw the grace bestowed upon him by God, he rejoiced and encouraged everyone to remain steadfast in the Lord.
This Barnabas was originally a good person, filled with the Holy Spirit and full of great faith. So many people surrendered to the Lord.
He went to Dashu again to find Saul,
If you find it, take him to Antioch. They spent a full year gathering with the church and teaching many people. The disciples are called Christians, starting from Antioch.
In those days, several prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
One of them, named Agab, stood up and, through the Holy Spirit, indicated that there would be a great famine in the world. This happened during the reign of Gelaodi.
So the disciples decided to donate money according to each person’s strength and send it to the brothers who lived in Judea.
They did this and entrusted the donation to Barnabas and Saul, sending it to the elders.
