Jacob gave birth to Joseph, who was Mary’s husband. Jesus, who is called Christ, was born in Mary.
So there were fourteen generations from Abraham to David. When David moved to Babylon, there were also fourteen generations. From the time they migrated to Babylon to Christ, there were fourteen generations.
The birth of Jesus Christ is recorded below. His mother Mary had already been betrothed to Joseph, but before she could marry him, Mary became pregnant from the Holy Spirit.
Her husband Joseph was a righteous person who did not want to openly humiliate her and wanted to secretly dismiss her.
Just as he was thinking about this matter, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, the son of David, do not be afraid, but marry your wife Mary. Because her pregnancy came from the Holy Spirit.
She is going to have a son. You need to name him Jesus. Because he wants to save his people from sin.
All these things have been accomplished to fulfill the words spoken by the Lord through the prophets,
Saying, There shall be a virgin who shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call her name Emmanuel. (Immanuel translates it as’ God is with us’.)
Joseph woke up and followed the instructions of the Lord’s messenger to take his wife.
But he did not have sexual intercourse with her, and when she gave birth to a son, he named him Jesus.
