job _Chapter 20

Zophath the Naamarite answered,

I am impatient in my heart, so my longing calls for an answer.

I have heard the words that humiliated and rebuked me. My intelligence calls me to answer.

Do you not know that since ancient times, life has been on earth.

Is the triumph of the wicked temporary, and the joy of the ungodly only fleeting?

Although his glory reaches up to heaven, and his head reaches into the clouds,

He will eventually perish like his own dung. People who have always seen him want to say, where is he?

He will fly away like a dream, no longer found, and be quickly driven away like a vision at night.

If you have seen him with your own eyes, you will never see him again. I won’t see him again in his place.

His children demand kindness from the poor. His hands are trying to repay the unjust gains.

Although his bones have the power of youth, they will lie with him in the dust.

Although evil is sweet in his mouth, it is hidden under his tongue.

Love lingers in one’s mouth.

His food will turn sour in his stomach, and become the venom of cobras in him.

He swallowed the treasure and still had to spit it out. God wants to take it out of his belly.

He will suck and drink the venom of cobras. The tongue of the pit viper will also kill him.

The river of milk and honey flows, he cannot see you again.

What he has earned from his labor shall be compensated, and he shall not swallow it, nor shall he rejoice in the wealth he has obtained.

He oppressed the poor and abandoned them. Forcing houses that are not built by oneself (or forcing houses not to be rebuilt).

He is insatiable due to greed, and he cannot even keep what he enjoys.

There is nothing else that he does not swallow, so his happiness cannot last long.

When he is satisfied, he will reach a narrow point. All those who suffer will put their hands on them.

When he is about to fill his belly, God will bring fierce wrath upon him. While he is eating, let this anger rain on him.

He wants to avoid iron weapons. The arrow of the copper bow will shoot him through.

He drew the arrow and it came out of him. The glowing arrow came out of his gallbladder, and panic lay upon him.

His treasure returned to darkness. The fire that a man does not blow shall consume him, and he shall burn down what is left in his tent.

Heaven will reveal his sins, and the earth will rise up against him.

His family fortune is bound to pass away. On the day of God’s wrath, all his goods will be destroyed.

This is the portion that the wicked receive from God, and the inheritance that God has determined for them.
