Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 26
The people of Judah appointed Uzziah son of Amaziah (also known as Azariah) as king in place of his father, who was sixteen years old at that time.
After Amaziah slept with his ancestors, Uzziah took back Eloth and returned it to Judah, and repaired it again.
Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem for fifty-two years. His mother’s name is Jecoliah, and she is from Jerusalem.
Uzziah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father Amaziah did.
Knowing the revelation of God, Uzziah determined to seek God while Zechariah was alive. He sought the Lord, and God made him prosper.
He went out to attack the Philistines and demolished the cities of Gath, Jabini, and Ashdod. Among the Philistines, some cities were built in the territory of Ashdod.
God helped him attack the Philistines, the Arabians who lived in Gurbaal, and the Miuni people.
The children of Ammon brought tribute to Uzziah. His reputation spread to Egypt because he was very strong.
Uzziah built city towers at the corner gate and valley gate of Jerusalem, as well as at the turning of the city wall, and they were very strong.
He built watchtowers and dug many wells in the wilderness, plateau, and plain, because he had a large number of livestock. In the mountains and beautiful lands, there are farmers and vineyard repairers, because they are pleased with farming.
Uzziah also had an army, according to the orders of the secretary Jeli and the chief commander Masiah, under the command of Hananiah, one of the king’s generals, to set out in battle.
The total number of powerful warriors, clan leaders, was 2600,
Their army consisted of 37500 soldiers, all of whom were powerful and skilled in warfare, helping the king attack his enemies.
Uzziah prepared shields, spears, helmets, armor, bows, and slingshots for the entire army,
And he made skilled craftsmen machines in Jerusalem, and installed them on the city towers and corner towers, to shoot arrows and stones. Usiya’s reputation spread far away. Because he received great help and was very strong.
When he was strong, his heart became arrogant and he acted wickedly, rebelling against the Lord his God and entering the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.
Azariah the priest led eighty brave priests of the Lord and followed him in.
They stood in the way of King Uzziah and said to him, “Uzziah, burning incense to the Lord is not your responsibility, but the responsibility of Aaron’s descendants to be consecrated as priests.”. You go out of the temple. Because you have committed a crime. If you do this, the Lord God will not give you glory.
Uzziah became angry and held a censer in his hand to burn incense. When he was angry with the priests, he suddenly had a leprosy on his forehead in front of the priests next to the altar of incense in the temple of the Lord.
The high priest Azariah and all the priests looked and saw that he had a leprosy on his forehead, so they urged him out of the temple. He himself quickly went out, because the Lord had brought disaster upon him.
King Uzziah became leprous until the day of his death, and therefore lived in another palace, isolated from the temple of the Lord. His son Jotan manages the family and the people.
The rest of Uzziah’s events, from beginning to end, were recorded by Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.
Uzziah slept with his ancestors and was buried in the field of the royal tomb, where his ancestors were buried. Because people say that he has grown up to be leprous. His son Jotham succeeded him as king.
