These people are all gatekeepers, serving in the temple of the Lord along with their brothers.
They drew lots according to their clans to guard each gate, regardless of their size.
The one who drew lots to guard the east gate was Shelemiah. His son Zechariah was a wise counselor who cast lots to guard the north gate.
Obededom guarded the south gate, and his son guarded the treasury.
Shupin and Hosa guarded the west gate, facing Ban on the street leading up near the Shaliki Gate.
There are six Levites at the east gate every day, four at the north gate, four at the south gate, two in the warehouse, and two in shifts.
There are four on the west street and two on the corridor.
The above are the gatekeepers of the children of Korah and the children of Merari.

They consecrated the loot they had taken during the war to prepare for the construction of the temple of the Lord.
The things that Samuel the seer, Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah consecrated were all under the control of Shelomith and his brothers.
The Israelites had Kenaniah and his sons as rulers and judges over Israel’s foreign affairs.
The Hebron tribe had Hashabiah and his brothers, 1700 strong men, who served the Lord and the king in the land of Israel, west of the Jordan River.
Jeriah was the head of the Hebrew tribe. In the forty year of David’s reign, he found mighty warriors from this tribe in Jazer in Gilead.
Jeriah’s brothers were two thousand seven hundred strong men, all of whom were chiefs of their families. King David appointed them to handle the affairs of God and the king among the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh.
