Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 1

The throne of Solomon, the son of David, was established. The Lord his God is with him, making him greatly honored.

Solomon ordered all Israel, including commanders of thousands and hundreds, judges, leaders, and family leaders, to come.

Solomon and the assembly went to the high place in Gibeon, because there was the tabernacle of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.

But David had already moved the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to the place he had prepared, because he had set up a tent for the ark in Jerusalem,

And the bronze altar made by Bezalel the son of Uri, the grandson of Hur, was also in front of the tabernacle of the Lord in Gibeon. Solomon and the assembly approached the altar.

Solomon went up to the bronze altar at the tabernacle of the meeting before the Lord and offered a thousand sacrifices as a burnt offering.

That night, God appeared to Solomon and said to him, What do you wish me to give you? Ask.

Solomon said to God, “You have shown great kindness to my father David, so that I may succeed him as king.”.

O Lord God, now please fulfill the promise you made to my father David. Because you have made me king over this people, they are as many as dust and sand on the earth.

Give me wisdom and understanding, so that I may go in and out before this people. Otherwise, who can judge these numerous people?

God said to Solomon, “I have made you king over my people.”. Since you have this intention, you do not seek wealth, wealth, or honor, nor do you seek to destroy the lives of those who hate you, nor do you seek a long life; you only seek wisdom and wisdom to judge my people.

I will give you wisdom and wisdom, and I will also give you wealth, wealth, and honor. This was not the case with your previous kings, and it will never be the case with you again.

So Solomon returned to Jerusalem from the high altar of Gibeon in front of the tabernacle of meeting and ruled over the Israelites.

Solomon gathered fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, and placed them with the king in the chariot towns and Jerusalem.

The king made gold and silver as abundant as stones in Jerusalem, and cedar trees as abundant as mulberry trees in the plateau.

Solomon’s horses were brought from Egypt, bought by a group of king’s merchants at a fixed price.

The chariots they bought from Egypt were priced at 600 shekels of silver per chariot and 150 shekels of horse per horse. The chariots and horses bought by the kings of Hittite and Aram were also bought by their hands at this value.
