Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 18

Jehoshaphat had great honor and wealth, so he became acquainted with Ahab.

After a few years, he went down to Samaria to see Ahab. Ahab slaughtered many cattle and sheep for him and his followers, and advised him to go with him to attack Ramoth Gilead.

King Ahab of Israel asked King Jehoshaphat of Judah, “Are you willing to go with me to attack Ramoth Gilead?”? He replied, “We are not separated from each other, my people will go to war with you, just like your people.”.

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please first inquire with the Lord.”.

So the king of Israel gathered four hundred prophets and asked them, “Shall we go up and take Ramoth Gilead?”. They said, Go up, for God will deliver the city into the hand of the king.

Jehoshaphat said, Isn’t there still a prophet of the Lord here? May we ask him?

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is another man, Micaiah son of Imlah.”. We can ask the Lord on his behalf, but I hate him. Because he prophesied against me and did not speak good words, but often spoke evil words. Jehoshaphat said, ‘The king does not need to say this.’.

The king of Israel summoned a eunuch and said, “Go quickly and call Micaiah the son of Imlah.”.

The king of Israel and the king of Judah, Jehoshaphat, were seated in court robes in the empty space in front of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophesied before them.

Zedekiah, the son of Kenanah, made two iron horns and said, ‘This is what the Lord says:’ Use these horns to resist the Arameans until you have completely destroyed them. ‘.

All the prophets also prophesied in this way, saying, Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and you will surely triumph, because the Lord will deliver that city into the hands of the king.

The messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, “All the prophets speak good words to the king in one voice. Why don’t you speak the same words as them and also speak good words?”.

Micaiah said, As the living Lord liveth, I will say whatever my God says.

Micaiah came to the king and the king asked him, “Micaiah, can we go up and attack Ramoth Gilead?”. He said, Go up and you will surely win, and the enemy will be handed over to you.

The king said to him, How many times should I charge you before you speak the truth to me in the name of the Lord?

Micaiah said, I have seen all the people of Israel scattered on the mountains, like a flock without a shepherd. The Lord said, This people have no master; they may return to their homes in peace.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Have I not told you that this man prophesied not of good, but of evil?

Micaiah said, “Listen to the word of the Lord.”. I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, with all the armies of heaven standing on his left and right.

The Lord said, Who will lure King Ahab of Israel to go up to Ramoth Gilead and die in battle? This is how it is said, that is how it is said.

Then a god came out and stood before the Lord, saying, I will go and lure him. The Lord asked him, “What method are you using?”?

He said, I will go and be a spirit of lies in the mouth of his prophets. And the Lord said, In this way, you will be able to lure him; go and do so.

Now the Lord has brought a spirit of lies into the mouth of you prophets, and the Lord has commanded disaster against you.

Zedekiah, the son of Kenanah, came and struck Micaiah on the face, saying, Where did the Spirit of the Lord leave me to speak to you?

Michaea said, “On the day you enter a tight room to hide, you will surely see it.”.

The king of Israel said, Bring Micaiah back and give it to Amon the governor of the city and Joash the king’s son, saying,

This is what the king said: Put this man in prison and make him suffer, not enough to eat or drink, and wait for me to return in peace.

Micaiah said, “If you can come back safely, then the Lord has not spoken these words through me.”. And he said, O people, listen.

The king of Israel and the king of Judah Jehoshaphat went up to Ramoth Gilead.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will modify myself to go to battle, and you may still wear the king’s robe.”. So the king of Israel modified it, and they went to battle.

First, the king of Aram commanded the chariot commanders, saying, No matter how great or small their soldiers are, do not fight against them; only fight against the king of Israel.

The chariot commander saw Jehoshaphat and said, “This must be the king of Israel.” So he turned around and fought against him. When Jehoshaphat shouted, the Lord helped him, and God moved them away from him.

The chariot commander saw that he was not the king of Israel, so he turned away and did not pursue him.

A man casually drew a bow and coincidentally shot it into the crevice of the armor of the king of Israel. Wang said to the driver, “I have been seriously injured. Turn around and take me out to battle.”.

On that day, the battle became increasingly fierce, and the king of Israel reluctantly stood on the chariot to resist the Arameans until evening. At sunset, the king died.
