The Philistines fought against the Israelites, and they fled in front of them. Some were killed and fell on Mount Gilbo.

The Philistines pursued Saul and his sons closely and killed Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Melchishua.

With great momentum, Saul was chased by archers and suffered severe injuries,

And he commanded the man who carried his weapons, saying, Draw your sword, and pierce me to death, lest those who are uncircumcised come and insult me. But the person who carried the weapon was very afraid and refused to stab him.

Saul fell on his sword and died. The armed man saw that Saul was dead, and he also fell on his sword and died.

So Saul, his three sons, and all his family died together.

All the Israelites living in the plain saw that the Israelite army had fled, and Saul and his sons had died. They abandoned the city and fled, and the Philistines came and lived in it.

The next day, the Philistines came to strip the clothes of the slain man and saw Saul and his son lying down on Mount Gilbo,

And he stripped his armor, cut off his head, and sent messengers to the four borders of the land of the Philistines to bring news to their idols and all the people,

And he put Saul’s uniform in the temple of their God, and nailed his head in the temple of Dagon.

When the people of Kiriath Jabesh heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

All the brave warriors among them stood up and took the bodies of Saul and his sons to Jabesh. They buried their bones under the oak tree in Jabesh and fasted for seven days.

So, Saul died. Because he has sinned against the Lord and has not kept his commands. And because he asked the woman who had a demon,

He did not ask the Lord, so the Lord caused him to be killed and returned the kingdom to David, the son of Jesse.
