Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 13

David consulted with the commanders of thousands and hundreds, all the leaders.

David said to the entire Israelite assembly, “If it pleases you and you see that this is from the Lord our God, then we will send people throughout the land of Israel to see our future brothers and the priests and Levites who live in a city with suburbs, so that they may come and gather here.”.

We will bring the Ark of God to us. Because during the reign of Saul, we did not ask God before the Ark.

The whole assembly said it was possible to do so. This matter is considered good in the eyes of all the people.

So David gathered the Israelites from the Sihor River in Egypt to the mouth of Hamath to bring the Ark of God from Kiriath Jearim.

David led all Israel up to Barak, which is Kiriath Jearim belonging to Judah, to bring the ark from there. This ark is the ark of the covenant that the Lord God left his name on the two cherubim.

They took the Ark of God out of Abinadab’s house and placed it on a new cart. Uzzah and Ahio drove the chariot.

David and all Israel danced and sang before God with all their might, using the harp, lyre, gongs, drums, and trumpets.

Arrived at the threshing floor of Keaton. Because the ox had lost its front hooves, Uzzah reached out to support the ark.

The Lord was angry with him because he reached out his hand to support the ark and killed him, and he died before God.

David was troubled by the Lord’s attack on Uzzah, and he called that place Perez Uzzah to this day.

That day, David was afraid of God and said, How can the Ark of God be brought to me.

So David did not bring the Ark into David’s city, but it was brought to the house of Obededom the Gittite.

The ark of God was in the house of Obed-edom for three months, and the Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that he had.
