What kind of work can wood be taken from it for, and what kind of vessels can be hung with nails?
Look, it has already been thrown into the fire as firewood. The fire has burned both ends and the middle, is it still beneficial for work?
When it is complete, it still does not meet the requirements for any work, let alone being burned down by fire. Can it still meet the requirements for any work?
Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, As I make the vine among the trees a firewood in the fire, so will I treat the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
I will change my face to them. Although they come out of the fire, the fire will consume them. When I turn my face towards them, you will know that I am the Lord.
I will make the land desolate, because they have acted against me. This is what the Lord Jehovah has said.
