The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah in the time of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

Go to the people of the Rechaetes, speak to them, and bring them into a room in the house of the Lord, and give them wine to drink.

I will take Jazaniah, the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brothers, as well as his sons and all the people of the Rechal clan,

Bring them to the temple of the Lord and enter the house of the sons of Hanan, the son of the man of God, Ichdaliah. That house is next to the leader’s house, above the Marcia’s house where the son of the salon keeps the door open.

So I set up a bowl and cup filled with wine before the people of Rechael, and said to them, Drink wine.

But they said, we don’t drink alcohol. Because our ancestor Jonadab, the son of Rechar, commanded us, ‘You and your descendants shall never drink wine.’,

You shall not build a house, sow, or plant a vineyard, but you shall dwell in tents throughout your life, so that your days may be extended in your place of sojourn.

We have obeyed all the words that our ancestor Jonadab, the son of Rechar, commanded us. We, along with our wives and children, never drink alcohol throughout our lives,

There are no houses to live in, no vineyards, fields, or seeds,

But live in tents, obey the words of our ancestor Jonadab, and do as he commanded us.

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came up to this place, and because we were afraid of the army of Chaldea and the army of Aram, we said, Come, let us go to Jerusalem. That’s how we lived in Jerusalem.

The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

This is what the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says: Go and say to the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, ‘The Lord says,’ Do you not receive teaching or obey my words? ‘?

The words that Jonadab, the son of Rechab, commanded his descendants not to drink wine have been kept by them, and to this day they do not drink wine, because they obey the orders of their ancestors. I have been warning you since I woke up early, but you did not listen to me.

I have risen early and sent my servants the prophets, saying, Turn back each of you, depart from your evil ways, correct your ways, and do not follow in serving other gods; then you will dwell in the land that I have given you and your ancestors. It’s just that you didn’t listen to me, nor did you listen sideways.

The descendants of Jonadab, the son of Rechar, were able to keep the orders given to them by their ancestors, but this people did not obey me.

Therefore, thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, I will bring all the calamity that I have spoken of upon the people of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Because when I spoke to them, they didn’t listen. I called out to them, but they didn’t agree.

Jeremiah said to the people of the Rechabites, ‘This is what the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says:’ Because you have obeyed the commands of your ancestor Jonadab, and have kept all his commandments, and have done as he commanded you. ‘,

Therefore the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says, Jonadab the son of Rechab will never lack anyone to stand before me.
