From the book of Jesse shall one sprout, and the branch that grows from his root shall bear fruit.

The spirit of the Lord will dwell on him, a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of strategy and power, a spirit of knowledge and reverence for the Lord.

He will rejoice in the fear of the Lord. Judgment is not based on sight, nor is judgment based on hearing.

But I will judge the poor with righteousness, and the humble in the world with righteousness. Strike the world with a cane in your mouth. Slay the wicked with the breath in your mouth.

Righteousness will be his belt, and faithfulness will be his belt under his belt.

The jackal and wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the lamb. Young lions, together with calves and fattening animals. Children need to lead them.

Cows must eat with bears. A calf must lie with a little bear. Lions will eat grass like cows.

A suckling child will play at the entrance of a cobra, and a weaned baby will lay their hands on the venomous snake’s den.

Throughout my holy mountain, none of this harms anyone or anything. For the knowledge of the Lord shall fill the earth, as water fills the seas.

On that day, the root of Jesse will be erected as a great banner for all nations. The Gentiles will seek him. His resting place is greatly honored.

On that day, the Lord will extend his hand twice to rescue the remaining of his people, including those who are left in Assyria, Egypt, Bethel, Cush, Elam, Shinah, Hamath, and all the islands.

He will set up a great banner against the nations, summon the scattered Israelites, and gather the scattered Jews from all four corners of the earth.

The jealousy of Ephraim will dissipate, and those who disturb Judah will be cut off. Ephraim will not envy Judah, nor will Judah cause trouble to Ephraim.

They will fly westward and pounce on the shoulders of the Philistines. Together they plundered the people of the East, stretching out their hands to hold down Edom and Moab. The children of Ammon will also submit to them.

The Lord will dry up the streams of Egypt. Using the scorching wind, the river was divided into seven streams, making it difficult for people to pass by and keep their feet wet.

There will be a great road for the remaining people of the Lord, who have returned from Assyria, just as Israel came up from the land of Egypt that day.
