Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 16

In the 36th year of Asa, King Bashar of Israel came up to attack Judah, built Ramah, and did not allow anyone to enter or leave from King Asa of Judah.

So Asa took out gold and silver from the treasury of the temple of the Lord and the king’s palace, and gave them to King Benhadad of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying,

Your father made a covenant with my father, and I will also make a covenant with you. Now I am giving you gold and silver, and I request that you annul your covenant with King Bashar of Israel, so that he may depart from me.

Benhadad obeyed the voice of King Asa and sent commanders to attack the cities of Israel. They conquered all the storage cities of Eyun, Dan, Abel, and Naphtali.

When Basha heard this, he stopped working and stopped building Rama.

So King Asa led all the people of Judah to transport the stones and wood that Baasha used to build Ramah, and used them to build Geba and Mizpah.

At that time, the seer Hanani came to King Asa of Judah and said to him, ‘Because you have relied on the king of Aram and not on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hands.’.

Isn’t the army of the ancient Shiites and the Lubians very large? Isn’t there an abundance of chariots and cavalry? Because you trusted in the Lord, he handed them over to you.

The eyes of the Lord search throughout the whole earth, to show great power in helping those who are honest in their hearts. You acted foolishly in this matter. From now on, you will have a war.

Asa was therefore angry with the seer and imprisoned him in prison. At that time, Asa also abused some people.

The actions of Asa, from beginning to end, are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

In the thirty ninth year of Asa’s reign, he had a serious illness in his foot. When I was sick, I didn’t ask the Lord, I only asked the doctor.

He reigned for forty-one years and died, sleeping with his ancestors,

He was buried in the tomb he had chiseled in the city of David and placed on a bed. His bed was filled with all kinds of fragrant spices, which were mixed according to the method of making incense. He also burned many things for him.
