Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 8

Solomon completed the construction of the temple of the Lord and the royal palace in twenty years.

In the future, Solomon rebuilt the cities that Hiram had given him, so that the Israelites could live there.

Solomon went to Hamath Zobah and captured that place.

Solomon built Damo in the wilderness and all the storage cities of Hamath,

He also built the Upper and Lower Horns as fortresses, with walls, doors, and bars.

He also built Barak and all the storage cities, as well as cities for chariots and cavalry, as well as Jerusalem, Lebanon, and all the land he ruled, as he wished to build.

As for the remaining Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites who were not of the Israelites in the land,

Solomon chose their descendants as slaves to the Israelites who had not been destroyed until today.

Only the Israelites, Solomon did not make them slaves to work, but rather his warriors, commanders of armies, charioteers, and horsemen.

King Solomon had two hundred and fifty supervisors who supervised the workers.

Solomon took Pharaoh’s daughter out of the city of David and went up to the palace built for her. Because Solomon said, All the places where the Ark of the Lord goes are holy places, my wife shall not dwell in the house of King David of Israel.

Solomon offered burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of the Lord, which he had built in front of the porch.

And he did as Moses commanded, and on the Sabbath, the new moon, and the three festivals of the year, which are the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Seven, and the Feast of Tabernacles, he offered his daily sacrifices.

Solomon appointed the divisions of the priests according to the ordinance set by his father David, so that each of them would serve for himself, and he also appointed the Levites to perform their duties, praising the Lord and doing their daily duties before the priests. And he sent gatekeepers to guard each gate according to their shifts, because David the man of God commanded him so.

They did not disobey the king’s orders to the priests and Levites, whether it was to manage the treasury or to do anything else.

Solomon prepared all the materials for the construction of the temple of the Lord from the day of its foundation until its success. So the temple of the Lord was completely completed.

At that time, Solomon went to Ezion Geber and Eloth by the sea in the land of Edom.

Hiram sent his servants to bring ships and servants familiar with the sea to Solomon. They went to Ophir with Solomon’s servants and received four hundred and fifty talents of gold, which they brought to King Solomon.
