Book of Ezekiel_Chapter 14
Several elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.
The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Son of man, these people have taken their false gods into their hearts and placed the stumbling blocks of sin in front of them. Can I be questioned by them at all?
Therefore tell them, Thus says the Lord GOD: For all the people of the house of Israel who have brought their false gods into their hearts, put the stumbling blocks of sin in front of them, and have brought prophets, I, the Lord, will answer them according to the multitude of false gods that they have worshipped,
Fortunately, I caught them in the hearts of the Israelites, because they were all estranged from me through false gods.
So you must tell the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Lord has said:’ Turn back. ‘. Leave your idols and turn your face away from all your detestable things.
For all the people of the house of Israel, or any stranger who sojourns in Israel, who are cut off from me, and bring their false gods into their hearts, and put the stumbling blocks of sin before them, and come to inquire of me about their affairs, I, the Lord, will answer them myself.
I will change my face against that person and make him a warning, a laughingstock, and a terror, and I will cut him off from my people. You will know that I am the Lord.
If a prophet is deceived and says a prophecy, I, the Lord, will let that prophet be deceived, and I will extend my hand to him and destroy him from my people Israel.
They will bear their own sins. The sins of a prophet are the same as those of a seeker,
So that the house of Israel will no longer wander away from me, and will no longer defile itself for all their sins; only be my people, and I will be their God. This is what the Lord Jehovah has said.
The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Son of man, if a nation sins against me, I will stretch out my hand to him and break their rod, cutting off their food and causing famine to come upon that land, cutting off people and livestock from it.
Although Noah, Daniel, and Job were among them, they could only save their lives through their righteousness. This is what the Lord Jehovah has said.
If I cause evil beasts to pass through and ravage the land, causing it to become desolate, so that no one can pass through them.
Although these three people are among them, as I swear by my eternal life, they cannot be saved, not even their sons and daughters; they can only be saved themselves, and the land remains desolate.
Or I may bring the sword upon that land, saying, Sword, pass through that land, so that I may cut off man and beast from it.
Although there are these three people among them, as I swear by my eternal life, they cannot be saved, not even their sons and daughters; they can only be saved on their own.
Or perhaps I will spread the plague in that land, and pour out my bloody wrath upon it, so that I may cut off man and beast from it.
Although Noah, Daniel, and Job are among them, as the Lord GOD has said, As I live forever, they cannot save their sons or daughters, but only their own lives through their righteousness.
This is what the Lord GOD says: Will not these four great calamities, the sword, famine, evil beasts, and plague, that I have brought upon Jerusalem, cutting off man and beast from them? Will they not be more severe?
However, there will be some remaining among them, both sons and daughters, who will bring them to you. You will see their actions and be comforted by all the calamity I have brought to Jerusalem.
When you see what they have done and are comforted, you will know that what I have done in Jerusalem is not without reason. This is what the Lord Jehovah has said.
