Samuel I_Chapter 18

After David finished speaking to Saul, Jonathan’s heart was deeply aligned with Davi…

After David finished speaking to Saul, Jonathan’s heart was deeply aligned with David’s heart. Jonathan loved David as he loved his own life.

On that day, Saul kept David and did not allow him to return to his father’s house.

Jonathan made an alliance with David as he loved his own life.

Jonathan took off his robe from his body and gave it to David. He also gave him his battle robe, sword, bow, and belt.

Wherever Saul sent David, he acted wisely. Saul appointed him as the commander of the warriors, and all the people and Saul’s servants were pleased.

When David killed the Philistine and returned with the people, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, rejoicing and playing drums and chimes, singing and dancing to welcome King Saul.

The women danced and sang, saying, Saul killed a thousand, and David killed ten thousand.

Saul was very angry and displeased with these words. He said, ‘Give ten thousand to David and a thousand to me, only the throne is left for him.’.

From this day on, Saul glared angrily at David.

The next day, a demon from God descended heavily on Saul, and he spoke nonsense at home. David continued to play the piano as usual, while Saul held a gun in his hand.

Saul swung his spear and said to himself, “I will pierce David through and nail him to the wall.”. David evaded him twice.

Saul was afraid of David. Because the Lord has left himself and is with David.

So Saul caused David to leave him and appointed him as a commander of thousands, and he led troops in and out.

David is shrewd in every way he does, and the Lord is with him.

When Saul saw that David was shrewd in his work, he was greatly afraid of him.

But all Israel and Judah loved David because he led them in and out.

Saul said to David, “I will give you my eldest daughter Mirah as my wife. Only be brave for me and fight for the Lord.”. Saul thought to himself, “I will not harm him with my own hand, but with the hand of the Philistines.”.

David said to Saul, “Who am I?”? What is my background, and what kind of family is my father’s family in Israel? How dare I become a king’s son-in-law?

When Saul’s daughter Mirah was due to be given to David, Saul gave Adriel the Mehorite as his wife.

Michal, the second daughter of Saul, loved David. Someone told Saul, and he was pleased.

Saul said in his heart, “I will give this daughter to David as a trap for him, so that he may harm him through the hands of the Philistines.”. So Saul said to David, “Today you can be my son-in-law for the second time.”.

Saul commanded his servants, saying, You secretly said to David, ‘The king delights in you, and all his servants love you. Therefore, you are to be the king’s son-in-law.’.

And Saul’s servants spoke these words to David. David said, Do you think being the son-in-law of a king is a small matter? I am a poor and humble person.

Saul’s servants replied, ‘This is what David has said.’.

Saul said, “This is what you must say to David: ‘The king does not want any dowry, only a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, so that he may seek revenge on his enemies.'”. Saul intended to cause David to perish in the hands of the Philistines.

Saul’s servants told David these words, and David rejoiced to become the king’s son-in-law. The date hasn’t arrived yet,

David and his men stood up and went, killing two hundred Philistines. They handed over the full number of foreskins to the king to become his son-in-law. So Saul gave his daughter Michal to David as his wife.

When Saul saw that the Lord was with David, he also knew that his daughter Michal loved David,

He is even more afraid of David and is his constant enemy.

Whenever the captain of the Philistine army came out to fight, David was more shrewd in his work than Saul’s servants, and therefore his name was respected.
