Samuel I_Chapter 7

The people of Kiriath Jearim came down and took the ark of the Lord and placed it in the house of Abinadab on the mountain. They assigned his son Eleazar to guard the ark of the Lord.

The Ark was in Kiriath Jearim for a long time. After twenty years, all the Israelites leaned towards the Lord.

Samuel said to all the Israelites, “If you wholeheartedly submit to the Lord, then you must remove the foreign gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and focus on the Lord and serve him alone.”. He will deliver you from the hands of the Philistines.

The Israelites removed all Baals and Ashtaroth and served the Lord alone.

Samuel said, Gather all Israel at Mizpah, so that I may pray to the Lord for you.

They gathered in Mizpah, drew water and poured it before the Lord. They fasted that day, saying, We have sinned against the Lord. So Samuel judged the Israelites in Mizpah.

The Philistines heard that the Israelites had gathered in Mizpah, and the leaders of the Philistines came up to attack the Israelites. When the Israelites heard this, they were afraid of the Philistines.

The Israelites said to Samuel, “May you continue to cry to the Lord our God for us, to save us from the hands of the Philistines.”.

Samuel offered a suckling lamb as a complete burnt offering to the Lord and called out to the Lord for the Israelites. The Lord answered him.

When Samuel was offering a burnt offering, the Philistines came to fight against the Israelites. On that day, the Lord thundered loudly and alarmed the Philistines, causing them to be defeated before the Israelites.

The Israelites came out of Mizpah and chased after the Philistines, killing them all the way down to Beth Kah.

Samuel set a stone between Mizpah and the good, and named it Ebenezer, saying, Until now, the Lord has helped us.

From then on, the Philistines were subdued and did not dare to enter the territory of Israel again. When Samuel was a judge, the hand of the Lord attacked the Philistines.

The cities taken by the Philistines from Ekron to Gath belonged to the Israelites. The four borders belonging to these cities were also taken back by the Israelites from the hands of the Philistines. At that time, the Israelites reconciled with the Amorites.

Samuel was a judge of Israel throughout his life.

He patrols every year to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, where he judges the Israelites.

Then he returned to Rama because his home was there. He also judged the Israelites there and built an altar to the Lord.
