Isaiah_Chapter 38

At that time, Hezekiah was so sick that he was about to die. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to see him and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Leave your life with your family, for you will die and not live.'”.

Hezekiah turned his face towards the wall and prayed to the Lord, saying,

Remember, O Lord, how I walked with perfect heart before you, walking in truth and doing what is good in your eyes. Hezekiah wept bitterly.

The word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

Go and tell Hezekiah, saying, This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears, and I will increase your life by fifteen years.

And I will save you and this city from the hands of the king of Assyria, and I will protect this city.

I, the Lord, will do what I have said: I will give you a sign first.

It is called the sundial of Ahaz, and the shadow of the advancing sun recedes ten degrees. So the advancing shadow indeed retreated ten degrees on the sundial.

King Hezekiah of Judah, who was sick and had recovered, wrote a poem saying,

I said, On the day of my middle age, I will enter the gates of the underworld. I cannot enjoy the remaining years.

I say, I will not see the Lord, even in the land of the living. I will no longer meet the inhabitants of the world.

My residence has been moved away from me, like a shepherd’s tent. I roll up my life like a roll of woven fabric. The Lord will cut me off from the nose of the machine, from morning till night, and he will bring me to an end.

I keep myself quiet until dawn. He breaks all my bones like a lion, from morning till night, he will bring me to an end.

I am like a swallow whispering. Like a white crane chirping. It’s like a dove mourning. My eyes are tired from looking up. O Lord, I am oppressed. Please vouch for me.

What can I say? What he promised me has also been accomplished for me. I will walk quietly throughout my life due to the pain in my heart.

Lord, the survival of a person depends on this. My spiritual survival is all here. So please heal me and keep me alive.

See, I have suffered greatly for the sake of peace, but because of your love for my soul, you have saved me from the pit of corruption. Because you have thrown all my sins behind your back.

For the underworld cannot thank you, death cannot praise you, and those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your honesty.

Only the living will thank you, just as I thank you today. A father will make his children aware of your honesty.

The Lord is willing to save me, so we will sing my songs with stringed instruments in the temple of the Lord all our lives.

Isaiah said, Take a fig cake and stick it on the sore, and the king will be healed.

Hezekiah asked, “What signs are there when I am able to go up to the temple of the Lord?”?
