In the seventh month, the Israelites lived in various cities, and they gathered together like one person in Jerusalem.

Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests, as well as Zerubbabel son of Salatiel and his brothers, rose up and built the altar of the God of Israel to offer burnt offerings on it, as written in the law of Moses the man of God.

They built altars on their original foundations, fearing the people of neighboring countries, and offered burnt offerings to the Lord on them morning and evening.

And according to the book of the law, he shall hold the Feast of Tabernacles and offer daily burnt offerings according to the number and tradition.

Afterwards, offer regular burnt offerings, and offer sacrifices at the new moon and all the holy festivals of the Lord, as well as offering everyone’s voluntary offerings to the Lord.

Starting from the first day of the seventh month, they offered burnt offerings to the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord has not yet been established.

They also gave silver to the stonemason and carpenter. Give grain, wine, and oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre, so that they may transport cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea and float them by sea to Joppa, as allowed by King Cyrus of Persia.

The people arrived at the temple in Jerusalem. In the second month of the second year, Zerubbabel the son of Salatiel, Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of his brothers, including the priests, the Levites, and all those who had been abducted back to Jerusalem, began to work and build. And he appointed Levites from twenty years old and above to oversee the construction of the temple of the Lord.

So the descendants of Judah (in 2:40, it was Hodaviah) were Jeshua, his descendants, and his brothers. Kadmil and his descendants, as well as the Levites and his brothers, rose up together to oversee those who were working in the temple of God.

When the craftsmen laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests were dressed in formal attire and sounded the trumpet. The Levites, the descendants of Asaph, played cymbals and stood to praise the Lord according to the law set by King David of Israel.

They sang to each other, praising and thanking the Lord, saying, He is good, and He has eternal mercy towards the Israelites. When they praised the Lord, the people shouted loudly, because the foundation of the temple of the Lord had been established.

However, many priests, Levites, and tribal leaders, even the elderly who had seen the old temple, now saw with their own eyes the foundation of this temple and cried loudly, and many people cheered loudly.

Even the people cannot distinguish between the sound of cheers and the sound of cries. Because everyone was shouting loudly, the sound could be heard in the distance.
