Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 19
King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned to Jerusalem in peace and went into the palace.
Jehu, the son of Hanani, went out to meet King Jehoshaphat and said to him, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?”? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you.
However, you still have good deeds, because you removed the puppet from the kingdom and set your heart on seeking God.
Jehoshaphat lived in Jerusalem and later went on to tour the people from Beersheba to the mountains of Ephraim, guiding them to return to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.
And he set up judges in fortified cities throughout Judah,
Tell them that you should be cautious in your actions. For you judge not for man, but for the Lord. When judging, he will be with you.
Now fear the Lord and be cautious in your actions. For the Lord our God is not unrighteous, does not show favoritism towards others, and does not accept bribes.
Jehoshaphat appointed people from the Levites, priests, and chiefs of the Israelites to make judgments for the Lord in Jerusalem and listen to the disputes among the people. Then he returned to Jerusalem.
Jehoshaphat commanded them, saying, Fear the Lord, and be faithful and honest in your work.
If any dispute arises among your brothers who live in various cities, whether it be for bloodshed or for breaking the law, commandments, laws, or ordinances, be vigilant against them, so that they do not sin against the Lord and his wrath may come upon you and your brothers. If you do this, you will not be guilty.
All things that belong to the Lord are under the control of the high priest Amariah. In all matters that belong to the king, Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the chief of the tribe of Judah, is in charge of you. In front of you, Levites serve as officials. Be bold in your work, and may the Lord be with the good.
