Chronicles of the Past Dynasties_Chapter 24
These are the divisions of the descendants of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Nadab and Abihu died before their father, leaving no sons behind. Therefore, Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
Zadok, the son of Eleazar, and Ahimelech, the son of Ithamar, along with David, divided their brothers into divisions.
Among the children of Eleazar, there were more leaders than among the children of Ithamar. The divisions were as follows: among the children of Eleazar, there were sixteen chiefs, and among the children of Ithamar, there were eight chiefs.
They are all divided by drawing lots and are the same as each other. The sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar served as leaders in the sanctuary and before God.
Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel the Levite, who served as the secretary, recorded their names before the king and the leaders, along with Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the Levite priests. Take one tribe from the descendants of Eleazar and one tribe from the descendants of Ithamar.
When drawing lots, the first one to be drawn was Jehoiarib, and the second one was Jedaiah,
The third is Harlem, and the fourth is Thorin,
The fifth is Machiah, and the sixth is the people of Miah,
The seventh is Hagos, the eighth is Abijah,
The ninth is Jeshua, the tenth is Shecani,
The eleventh is Eliashib, the twelfth is Jakim,
The thirteenth is Huba, the fourteenth is Jeshibiab,
The fifteenth is Bijia, and the sixteenth is Yinmai,
The seventeenth is Hezel, the eighteenth is Habizer,
The nineteenth is Pitahiah, the twentieth is Ezekiel,
The 21st is Jachin, the 22nd is Carmel,
The 23rd is Delaiah, and the 24th is Marcia.
This is their schedule, as the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded through their ancestor Aaron, to enter the temple of the Lord and carry out their affairs.
The remaining descendants of Levi are as follows: among the descendants of Amram, Shubael. Among the descendants of Shubael was Jehidia.
Among the descendants of Rehabiah, Ishiah the eldest son.
Among the descendants of Ezra, there was Shiloh. Among the descendants of Shiloh, there was Jaha.
Among the descendants of Hebron were the eldest son Jeriah, the second son Amalia, the third son Jahaziel, and the fourth son Jekamian.
Among the descendants of Uzziel was Micah. Among the descendants of Micah was Shamir.
Micah’s brother is Ishiah. Among the descendants of Ishiah was Zechariah.
The sons of Merari: Mahli, Mushi, and Jazziah. The son of Jazziah had Bino.
Among the descendants of Merari were Bino, Shohan, Zakek, and Iberiah, the sons of Jazziah.
The son of Mahli was Eleazar. Eleazar has no son.
Among the descendants of Kish was Jerahmeel.
The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Edh, and Jerimoth. These are all descendants of Levi according to their families.
They drew lots in front of King David and Zadok, as well as Ahimelech and the heads of the Levite priests, just like their brothers Aaron’s descendants. The elders and brothers of each ethnic group are indistinguishable.
