The word of the Lord came to Joel son of Pitur.

Old people, listen to me. The residents of junior high school should listen attentively. Have such things ever happened in your days, or in the days of your ancestors?

You shall pass on this matter to your children, to your grandchildren, and to your descendants.

The leftover from cutting insects will be eaten by locusts. The remaining locusts are eaten by the hoppers. The remaining hoppers will be eaten by grasshoppers.

Drunk people, wake up and cry. Those who enjoy good wine will mourn for sweet wine. Because it was cut off from your mouth.

There is a group of locusts (originally a people) that are strong and numerous, invading my land. Its teeth are like the teeth of a lion, and its big teeth are like the big teeth of a lioness.

It destroys my grape tree, peels the skin of my fig tree, exhausts it and discards it, making its branches white.

Wail, my people, like a virgin wearing linen around her waist, lamenting for her young husband.

The grain offering and drink offering shall be cut off from the house of the Lord. The priests who serve the Lord mourn.

The fields are desolate, the earth mourns, because the grains are destroyed, new wine is dried up, and oil is scarce.

Shame, farmers; howl, those who repair vineyards; for the barley and wheat, as well as the crops in the fields, have been destroyed.

Grape trees wither, fig trees decay. The pomegranate tree, palm tree, apple tree, and even all the trees in the field have withered. The joy of everyone was extinguished.

Priests, tie sackcloth around your waist and cry bitterly. Wail, those who serve the altar. O those who serve my God, come and put on sackcloth for the night. Because the grain offering and drink offering were cut off from the temple of your God.

Set a day for fasting, declare a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the temple of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.

Alas, the day of the Lord is approaching. This day has arrived, as if destruction has come from the Almighty.

Isn’t food cut off in front of us? Has not joy and joy ceased from the temple of our God?

The grain seeds rotted under the soil. The warehouse is also desolate, and the granary is also destroyed. Because the grains have dried up.

Livestock mourn, herds of cattle are chaotic because there is no grass. The sheep also suffered hardships.

O Lord, I cry to you. Because the fire extinguishes the grasslands of the wilderness, and the flames consume the trees of the fields.

The beasts of the fields pant for you. Because the stream dries up, and the fire also consumes the grasslands of the wilderness.
