The people murmured, and their evil words reached the ears of the Lord. When the Lord heard this, his anger erupted and he caused fire to burn among them until it reached the border of the camp.

The people cried out to Moses, and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire extinguished.

That place was called Taberah, because the fire of the Lord burned among them.

The idle people among them are full of greed. And the Israelites wept again, saying, Who will give us meat to eat?

We remember eating fish without spending money in Egypt, and we also remember having cucumbers, watermelons, chives, onions, and garlic.

Now our efforts are exhausted, and apart from this manna, there is nothing else in front of us.

This manna is like coriander seeds and also like pearls.

As the people walked around, they put away manna, either by grinding it or pounding it in a mortar, boiled it in a pot, and made cakes, with a taste like new oil.

Night dew falls in the camp, and manna also falls with it.

Moses heard the people crying at the entrance of their tents. The anger of the Lord was raging, and Moses was displeased.

Moses said to the Lord, “Why have you mistreated your servant? Why haven’t I found favor in your eyes, yet have you placed this heavy responsibility of managing the people on me?”?

Are these people the offspring of my pregnancy or the offspring of my birth? But you said to me, ‘Hold them in your arms, like a father who nurtures a baby, until you bring them to the land you swore to give to their ancestors.’.

Where do I get meat to feed this people? They all cried to me and said, “Give us some meat to eat.”.

The responsibility of managing this people is too heavy for me to bear alone.

If you treat me like this, and I find favor in your eyes, please kill me immediately so that I do not see my own suffering.

The Lord said to Moses, Gather seventy of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders and rulers of the people, and come to me. Bring them to the Tent of Meeting, and let them stand with you.

I will come down there and speak to you, and I will also give them the spirit that has descended on you. They will share the heavy responsibility of governing the people with you, so that you do not bear it alone.

And I will say to the people, Cleanse yourselves and prepare to eat meat tomorrow, because you cry and say, Who will give us meat to eat. We are doing well in Egypt. This voice has reached the ears of the Lord, so he will give you meat to eat.

You don’t just eat for one day, two days, five days, ten days, twenty days,

I will eat it for a whole month, until meat spurts out of your nostrils, making you disgusted, because you despise the Lord who lives among you and cry before him, saying, Why did we leave Egypt?

Moses said to the Lord, ‘There are 600000 men walking among the people who live with me. And you said,’ I will give them meat so that they can eat for a whole month. ‘.

Is slaughtering their flocks and herds of cattle, or gathering all the fish in the sea enough for them to eat?

The Lord said to Moses, Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now it depends on whether my words will be fulfilled to you.

Moses went out and told the people the word of the Lord, and gathered seventy elders of the people to stand around the tent of meeting.

The Lord came down in the clouds and spoke to Moses, giving the spirit that came upon him to the seventy elders. When the spirit stopped on them, they felt the sensation and spoke, but never said anything again afterwards.

But there were two people still in the camp, one named Elida and the other named Mida. They were among those who were recorded, but they did not go to the Tent of Meeting. The spirit rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp.

A young man ran over and told Moses, ‘Elidad and Midad are prophesying in the camp.’.

Joshua, the son of Nun, the helper of Moses, who was chosen by Moses, said, “Please, my lord Moses, prohibit them.”.

Moses said to him, Do you envy people for my sake? May the people of the Lord be moved and speak. May the Lord bring his spirit upon them.

So Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.

A wind blew up from the Lord, bringing quails from the sea and scattering them around the camp. It’s about a day’s journey here, and about a day’s journey over there, about two cubits above the ground.

The people rose up day and night, and the next day and day, catching quail. At least ten homers were taken and arranged around the camp for themselves.

Before the flesh was chewed between their teeth, the anger of the Lord erupted against them and he struck them with the heaviest plague.

That place was called Kibolohatava (the tomb of the greedy), because they buried those who had a greedy heart there.

The people walked from Kibolohatava to Hazroth and stayed there.
